Barbaranne

Barbaranne were formed in the early 90's by Roland 606 following his expulsion from the Winalot Allstars for 'artistic differences'. Not one to be daunted by his fall from the heady reaches of pub-rock, Roland swiftly gathered a group of malleable young minds- who could help him actualise his curious sonic imaginings using esoteric practices that would in all probability have bleached the Allstars spleens.

After some initial psychic readjustment and identity reassignment, Barbaranne-mania spread through the unknown universe; 'Falling' was number 1a on the fourth moon of Yalto for over a Galactic epoch, and who can forget the moment when 'Kill 17' was used to irradiate the Swamp-Raven's reproductive organs, freeing the CogniZone from the icy 'Kruk-Kruk' of parthenogenic Homo Corvidus.

Of course, climbing so high can prove vertiginous and Roland 606 proved unequal to any pressure, his inability to retain memories of previous compositions combined with the mounting hubris of his part-human collaborators lead to his dismissal from the band.

Following this forking of the path, Barbaranne soldiered gamely on without their amnesiac muse, but that silver quality was gone- darkness ensued and Barbaranne dissolved into protoplasm. Subsequently, individual host bodies have found great success in careers as diverse as drinking, shouting in Asda and snail calligraphy.

Roland 606 never recovered from the shame of twice being rejected by groups of subservient hominids and he took to a perculiarly evangelical form of vagabondage . Roland was last seen in North London, chanting 'the way of INS, the way of DEL' at a disinterested montage of hoxton fins.

and now the songs.... for too long these gems of yesteryear have festered on C90.... liberated they now sing freely of young love, car insurance claims and eroticised firearms.
